OUR STORY

MooseCat is a professional recording studio located in Los Angeles, CA, featuring the best of both vintage analog and modern digital tools.
Music is our passion, and we focus on making a big sound in an intimate setting.

The studio is a fully fledged, sound proofed and acoustically treated facility, designed by Grammy nominated Ken Goerres. The studio was started by producer/engineer Mike Post and singer/songwriter Carly Liza Rosenthal out of a mutual love they have for music.

MooseCat is equipped to handle a variety of different pallets, with both a Pro Tools 12 HDX system, as well as a Tascam MS-16 1" 16 track tape machine.  Both are fed with a 1970's Auditronics 110A 'Grandson' console, designed and constructed in Memphis for Stax Records.  Pair this with a plethroa of microphones, outboard gear and vintage instruments, and the result is both an analog and digital world to suite a variety of palettes.

Mike Post

Growing up an avid music fan and musician, Mike Post’s career in recording music started in New York at age 17 after putting together a home studio to record his band.  From there on recording music would be his passion. After interning at the infamous Loho Studios in New York City and Sanctum Sound in Boston, he graduated from Northeastern University in January 2010 cum laude, with a B.S. in Music Industry.  Upon graduating, Mike moved to Los Angeles in early 2010 to pursue a career in recording music.  Years later, he has engineered sessions in many prominent Los Angeles recording studios, and has worked on sessions for Local Natives, She & Him, Rooney, The Wild Reeds, and Alice Cooper.  He also worked as the engineer at Red Rockets Glare for four years with producer Raymond Richards. Mike is also a songwriter and musician himself, having released independently four full length solo records and an EP since 2008, as well as work with his bands Young Creatures and Carly & The Universe.  He is currently a Producer/Engineer at MooseCat Recordings and is available to produce, engineer, or mix your next project!  For full credits, please see the credits tab above.
